Inter Milan produced a stunning performance to beat fierce rivals AC Milan 4-0.
Jose Mourinho's side could only draw 1-1 with Bari in their opening Serie A match last weekend but they were in irresistible form in the first Milan derby of the season.
Thiago Motta fired the Nerazzurri in front after 29 minutes and Diego Milito made it 2-0 with a penalty seven minutes later.
Any chance of a fightback receded when Gennaro Gattuso was sent off for a second bookable offence five minutes before the break and Inter capitalised on their numerical advantage.
Maicon struck on the stroke of half-time and Dejan Stankovic then put Inter 4-0 ahead in the 67th minute.
Newly promoted Bari built on their draw with Inter by picking up a second point in as many games.
They played out a goalless stalemate with Bologna, who had also drawn their opening game of the season.
Juventus were far too strong for Roma in Sunday's top clash in Serie A. In the Eternal City, Ciro Ferrara's Old Lady were dominant against Roma as Brazilian Diego orchestrated an eye-catching 3-1 victory.
The diminutive Juve playmaker struck either side of Daniele De Rossi's consolation for the Giallorossi before Felipe Melo made sure of a Juve win in the last minute.
Lazio were also victorious on their travels as they came from behind to beat Chievo. Sergio Pellissier's strike after quarter of an hour jolted Lazio into action as Julio Cruz levelled before half-time from the penalty spot before scoring a winner after the interval.
Sampdoria have started the new season in fine style as they made it two wins from two thanks to a 3-1 defeat of Udinese.
Goals from Giampaolo Pazzini, Daniele Mannini and Antonio Cassano rendered Antonio Di Natale's effort nothing more than a consolation.
Genoa have also taken six points from six as Emiliano Moretti's goal on the stroke of half-time gave them a 1-0 win over Atalanta.
Siena were impressive at Cagliari as they claimed a 3-1 win. Emanuele Calaio was their standout performer as he scored a brace (52 & 70) before substitute Reginaldo made the game safe. Earlier in the game Jeda's penalty 15 minutes from time had looked likely to set up a tense finale.
A first half goal from Stevan Jovetic was enough to give Fiorentina a 1-0 win over Palermo.
Napoli were too strong for Livorno as they claimed a 3-1 win on home soil. Fabio Quagliarella's second half brace was added to by a Marek Hamsik effort, while Livorno's solitary response came from Cristiano Lucarelli.
Alberto Paloschi was Parma's second half matchwinner at home to Catania. Daniele Galloppa's 13th minute strike proved unlucky for Catania, who levelled just a minute later when Marco Biagianti netted. It was, though, Paloschi who had the final say just two minutes after half-time.
